Vertical Baler - FAQ Area
Questions customers ask most frequently about Vertical Balers.

A: High Density Vertical Balers feature many innovations for ease of use, safety, and maintenance friendly access. Features such as the side-mounted power unit with submerged motor and pump, front facing panel box, redundant feed gate (dual safety) interlock systems, all add up to a reliable baler for years of trouble-free recycling. Some manufacturers are now using "Smart Relay" technologies that adds safety features, easy setup, and diagnostic capabilities to your baler. Newer balers now have the motor and pump submerged in the hydraulic fluid tank which offers much quieter operation.
A: Anyone looking to save on landfill costs, increase employee productivity, save the Earth's finite resources, etc. should consider the use of a vertical baler.
A: Most uses are for Cardboard OCC (Old Corregated Containers) but today many business use the machines for paper, shrink wrap, plastic, rags, aluminum and bi-metal cans, etc.
A: Your baler can be equipped with optional features that add even more efficiency and ease of use: Automatic bale ejector that activates when the door is opened versus traditional rear access "Chain" bale eject; Front Feed Wire Guides eliminate the need to go behind the baler for a complete front tie-off system; a Bale Made Light illuminates when a bale is made to notify the operator when it is time to eject the bale; an optional lockable electrical disconnect can be added for local Lock-Out/Tag-Out.
A: Standard Available Models: 4830, 6030, 6030HD, 6030LP, 6030HDXP, 7230HD, 7230HDXP, 7240HD, 7240XHD, 7244HD and various Stock Room Style Balers. Please note the typical "mill spec" OCC Bale is one that measures 60" W x 30" D x 48" H. HD represents Heavy Duty and XP in most cases designate "Extra Penetration" units for recycling of aluminum cans, rags, etc.
A: The customer is responsible for the installation of a fused 3 phase quick disconnect electrical box within 10 feet of each type of equipment to be installed and a concrete wire mesh or rebar reinforced equipment pad exceeding 3,000 lb. PSI weight ratings and measuring the following
dimensions. Equipment pads for Self-contained and Stationary Compactors should be 10’ to 12’
wide x 40’ to 50’ long x 6” to 8” thick concrete. Vertical Compactors and Vertical Balers should be bolted to a 10’ wide x 10’ long x 6” to 8” thick concrete pad.
In-addition, customer is responsible to have a certified electrician hook-up power unit or any
hard piping of controls and conduit to meet all local building and electrical codes. Lastly, overhead restrictions must be adhered to and in most cases a site survey is made to determine proper options, unit placement, and OSHA and ANSI Compliance requirments.
